Our 3-level incursion program covers the fundamentals of flight theory, drone flight, and block coding, with each session lasting two hours. It offers a structured approach to learning, with each level building on key concepts from the previous one.
Our Program
Lvl 1 - Straight & Level
This drone flight lesson introduces students to flight fundamentals, including pre-flight checklists, in-air checks, and CASA rules, along with key concepts like yaw, pitch, and roll. The first flight exercise focuses on flying straight with precision and control. Next, students practice flying in a square pattern, emphasizing sharp corners and directional control. They then explore block coding through two hands-on code challenges. The lesson concludes with an obstacle course, where students apply their flight and coding skills for quick, accurate navigation.
Lvl 2 - Horizontal turns
Level 2 of the program builds on flight fundamentals by introducing drone components, RPAS applications, and real-world uses in scanning, mapping, agriculture, and forestry. Students begin with a revision flight, reinforcing precision control by flying maneuvers learnt in the last level. Next, they refine their flight skills by learning to round out sharp turns for smoother movement. Students then practice circling a point while keeping their drone’s camera locked onto a target. Finally, they apply their skills by using block coding to automate flight paths and strategizing the best possible route for surveying a forested area.
Lvl 3 - Round the clock face
Level 3 enhances flight skills with advanced maneuvers and a deeper understanding of key concepts. Participants will develop situational awareness, learning to assess their surroundings for safer and more effective flights. Practical training includes vertical turns, executing the "round-the-clock face" maneuver, and refining previous skills with greater precision. Block coding integration continues, enabling participants to program and automate flight paths for enhanced control and mastery.
Teacher Resources
Our teacher resources provide valuable support for educators looking to bring drone technology and coding into the classroom. From lesson plans to hands-on activity guides, we offer tools to help teachers engage students in flight theory, drone piloting, and block coding with confidence.
